Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has re-opened the Category to Sponsor Parents and Grandparents. Canadian Residents or Citizens over Age 18 and meeting the eligibility requirements may sponsor their Parents and Grandparents. The Online Interest to Sponsor Form is available from January 2nd, 2018 to Noon February 1st, 2018.
Applicants will be required to answer a few questions (who would you like to sponsor and if you checked eligibility requirements) before proceeding to complete the form. You will need the following information in order to complete The Interest to sponsor Form: Sponsor’s Full name, date of birth, Country of birth, Country of current residency, home address, postal code and e-mail address. For your parents or grandparents, you will need their full name as it is on their passport and their date of birth. Once you have entered your information and digitally signed the form, CIC will provide you with a Confirmation number.
Keep your Confirmation Number for your records. Do not enter your information more than once as duplicates will be removed and it does not increase your chances of being selected. At the end of the 30 days, IRCC will remove the duplicates and select 10,000 applicants randomly from the pool. IRCC will advise all applicants whether or not they are selected.
Selected applicants will have a deadline date to submit their complete application package. If you are not selected in 2018, you may submit your application again in 2019.
Good luck and best wishes for a Very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous 2018 to you and your families.
